  • Anyone editing DVCPRO HD off macpro internal drives?

I’m thinking of using a raid of the non-system internal drives for DVCPRO HD. Maybe Prores. Should that work out okay, or is the external drive really needed. I’m not doing any uncompressed stuff.

Should work fine… and the internal drives are SATA so they’ll have a fast enough transfer rate. I have noticed though that the internal Video Raid in the Mac Pros is sometimes slow to spin up, and this can cause temporary beach ball states on your computer (although, they have always recovered and the machine hasn’t crashed).

I formatted 2 disks as RAID 0 and have no problems with DVCPro HD. You don’t even need to RAID the disks, but I wanted a bigger scratch disk. eSATA has more than enough bandwidth.

So you can get two or 3 layers of dvcproHD going with no hitches or anything? That would be good news.

No problems with 3 layers, no render required.
