I had somebody ask and I didn’t know, got curious and looked into it – the JVC JVC GZ-HD7U Everio is a camcorder that records to an internal hard drive. Googling it I found this:
    —-
High definition video streamed by i.LINK in the 1440CBR mode is HDV-compatible and allows footage to be editing using HDV-compatible software (functionality might be limited with some applications).
    —-

OK – anybody try that with FCP 5.x yet? Have any success?

    Any war/scar stories appreciated.

    Hi Mike,

I am actually having a problem/question somewhat related with your subject, and I am desperately in need of some help.

I captured HDV footage with a JVC HDV deck. The deck did not allow me to capture with the way I usually capture with a JVC camera. Basically, I had to control the deck locally (manually) and could only do “capture now”. I had to select HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec instead of HDV in the audio/video settings. Otherwise, the deck will not capture the footage even though Final Cut recognizes the deck.

Now that I have all the footage in my hard drive and start editing, when I drop the video into the timeline, the video turns into a solid green or solid black. I am completely sure that I set the sequence correctly for HDV editing. What did I miss?

I would very appreciate your advice. Thank you.
