    The render succeeded.
    Finally.
Strung together nested segments and did a 2 pass render, rendering audio seperately.
Am now burning DVD, rough version for French translator.
    But confidence not yet restored.
    Obviously an intermittent problem.

Is nesting not a kind of pre-render?
    Confused on that one.

Anyway,—to selectively pre-render I highlight section, got to tools, choose selectively render and I get rendered sections that I later joint together on the timeline and save. But what do I save these as? They are already .avi right?
    Just a little (a lot)unclear on that.

[Peabody] “Is nesting not a kind of pre-render?”

    No.

No. They will automatically be used. You don’t have to do anything else. It *might* be a wise move to go to File – Properties and Options – Preference and change all file locations to a known location. Otherwise you could end up with lots of temp files on your C: drive. You might want to look at the first few issues of my newsletters which talk about these preferences.

“have spend 15 hundred plus dollars on consultations and hardware.”

Holy cats – I guess this begs the question…what kind of system are you running?
