  • Any way to stop firewire drives from sleeping?

    Hi

My lacie firewire external storage drives keep going to sleep after any brief period of inactivity – haven’t timed this but seems to be around 5 minutes.

It’s getting quite frustrating having to wait for them to spin up to speed every time I want to access a clip from a drive I haven’t used for a few minutes. Any suggestions on how to turn this function off? Or at least prolong the time before the drives put themselves to sleep?

I have unchecked “Put hard disk(s) to sleep whenever possible” in System Preferences / Energy Saver, but to no avail….any ideas?

    Thanks

There is a piece of shareware called NoSpin that will do this.

    All the best,
