From what I am reading there is no way to do this…but I am hopeful!
I have a master project that has dozens of other .aep’s imported. When I make changes to any of the original .aep’s they do not update in the master project. With changes to assets I can simply “reload” them to see instant changes…is there any way to do this with imported .aep’s?

There is a third party app/script that does this, AE Project Sync. It has trial version, so you might want to check it out.
