I have an animated background that’s about 20 seconds. But I need it to loop in the background for half an hour. Is there an easy way to loop it? Or do I have to duplicate it a bunch of times?

Select the imported footage in the Project window, then File>interpret footage>main. Set it to loop there.

additionally, you can select the background footage in the comp, select layer>time>enable time remapping… then select the time remap property that pops up for that layer and enable expressions for it (animation>add expression) then type loopOut() in the expression field.

the clip will loop for the duration of the comp. if you adjust the length fo the comp, you may need to extend the length (out point) of the layer (as you would with any layer).
