  • Any tips on Buying a used Sony UVW-1800?

    Hello,

I am looking into buying a used Sony UVW-1800 Beta SP deck and was wondering if anyone has any general recommendations? I realize every deck will be different based on how it was used and treated, but are there any tips out there on how to get a good one. I will most likely be buying this on the internet, so I’m trying to make sure I don’t get hosed.

What is an acceptable number of Operation, Drum, Tape & Thread hours?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Hey Aaron,

I am actually selling my UVW 1800 and have recently had it serviced at Victory Studios here in Seattle. Here are the specifics:

    Operating hours: 7820
    Drum hours: 1210
    Tape hours: 470
    Threading: 2750

It is in excellent condition and comes with the remote proc amp controls for $3600.

If you’re still looking into getting a machine, call David Thompson, or Conrad Ferrell who did the work. Their number is 206-282-1776.
