If you type some text, turn on the outline and turn off the face, is there any way of automagically turning that outline into a path?

I want to achieve the effect of the outline of my text drawing itself (probably using one of the “dashed line” shape styles) before I mix up the full-face text. Do I have any less laborious options than manually tracing around each letter to draw a Bezier shape?

Bummer. AE has a “trace” function that does something like that, hasn’t it?

Yeas AE has a function that does this. It is something Motion should have, maybe in next version, they should also include camera projection in the next version.

You are going to have to draw all mask you need.

You could try using Illustrator to create the text and then using Motionsmarts Illustrator layer to Motion shape script. That might work.
