Any pointers for shoting flames?
Do you have any tips on how to shoot flames, i.e. exposure, shutter speed, lenses, lighting, etc.?
The scene includes a flaming sword. We just hired a pyrotechnics guy.
Shooting on a Canon 7D. I have two L-Series Lenses: 24-104 and a 16-35, both are 2:8.

There is no guideline, as the amount of light will vary with the size and intensity of the flame. Generally, you don’t want to shoot in full day light as the sun would, more than likely, overpower the light given off by the flame which would render it difficult to see.
Research “footcandle” to get a background on things… it may help get some rough estimates.
