Any market these days for nature/ambient background CDs?
I think this is the correct forum for this question since it’s read by audio professionals:
I’ve pondering lately the concept of trying to record and sell nature records (streams, fire, storms, crickets, etc.)
Then it dawned on me that there may be absolutely no market for such recordings. I can’t remember the last time I rushed out to buy such a CD.
Does anyone know if anyone has every made any money selling such recordings or is it just a hobby for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts?

There are numerous SFX packages that include or are dedicated entirely to ambiances in stereo, and an increasing number made for 5.1. Google “sound effects” or “5.1 sound effects” and you’ll see the competition.
