I’m having trouble tracking this shot we filmed.

The idea is that in the background we are going to have a portal in the sky as well as an alien coming out of the portal, however I’m having issues trying to get a good track. We shot this in 4k with great exposure so not sure what the issue is.

When using the 3d tracker I get good (yet limited) track points on the ground, but not the background which is what I need to track.

    Any ideas or tips?

Precompose the shot and – inside the precomp – roughly roto out the people running, girls hair, doors swinging…basically, roto out everything that’s moving.
Then, in your main comp, try tracking it again.
Removing all of the moving elements should help a lot.
