May 17, 2005 at 9:22 amI have seen this message in another forum:
We have done some developement for the Black Magic cards, we even showed a prototype of Aspect HD using a Black Magic at NAB. However the drivers for AJA are more mature at the moment, we find more reliable performance with AJA so that is currently the recommended HDSDI solution for Prospect HD. In time we may add Black Magic support to PHD — no promises. David Newman

May 17, 2005 at 1:43 pmHi VSV,
Our Windows drivers are very stable and maturing all the time – they are certified by Adobe and our HD Pro card is the solution for the OpenHD turnkeys for 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 HD that have been put together by Adobe, HP, Sony and others. I think being certified by Adobe, endorsed by companies such as HP and being the only uncompressed HD and SD solution for Sony Vegas 6 speaks for itself regarding the maturity of our drivers and products.
To develop/plug in to our products we use Microsoft DirectShow which is a very open and easy to program interface, similar to QuickTime development on the MAC. This is a much better way to develop – even if we change our core driver, it will not affect our developers because the interface to us is DirectShow. This is why we chose to go this way, easier for us and more importanlty gives our developers a stable platform to code to.
In the case with Cineform and AJA, this has been developed via AJA’s private API and hence much of the Cineform Prospect HD has been specifically coded for the AJA API. It is not a simple DirectShow plugin/filter.

CTO, CineForm Inc. “We have pretty much done everything that has been required to plug into Cineform Aspect and Prospect – it is really in Cineform’s court now to make this happen. So to answer your direct question, Cineform Prospect and Aspect support will not be in the 5.0 release.
I hope the above cleared some things up.

May 21, 2005 at 4:15 pmHi Matt!
Will there be support for capturing/playback of compressed SD video in PremierePro in the 5.0 drivers? (Like Photo JPEG ?)
I’m very happy with the quality of the PhotoJPEG codec, since we haven’t got enough disk space to do our projects in uncompressed 8 og 10 bit. (Too much raw material…)
When do you think the 5.0 will be released?
