any hope for a corrupted QT file?
this one is pretty curious. i have a 27 minute clip on a USB Passport drive. it is amongst several other clips which transferred fine to my internal hard. this clip will not transfer nor copy…although it DOES show up on an FCP timeline (still sourced on the Passport), but i can’t copy it neither from FCP nor even duplicating it via Finder right on the drive. any ideas on how to save this one?
I’ve tried cutting the clip into pieces on an FCP timeline, and then rendering out each of those clips as a new/copy of the clip, but that causes FCP to crash every time. i’m open to ideas…

You never specified the clips codec. QuickTime is just a wrapper. See if you can convert the clip to an FCP friendly codec such as ProRes then import that into FCP.

Quit everything and check the file permissions.

ProRes HQ on a USB drive WILL choke your system. Like Jeremy said, check your permissions on the file.

Open it in QT. Export from there to your Capture Scratch drive…same settings as the clip.
