Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Another Wide Screen Question

I have some wide screen footage which was given to me on a tape which someone else exported from a different program..not sure if that is relevant or not…

Anyway, it shows up as wide screen on my camera and when I look at the media tab it says, “DV 720x480x24” but when it’s on the Vegas preview screen it doesn’t have black bars. When I render it as NTSC widescreen it shows black bars on the sides as it is rendering.

So I am confused as to what is going on. I think the raw footage is widescreen, but why are the bars on the side?

    Any help would be appreciated.

What are your project and render settings? If you set your project to DV Widescreen you should not see any back bars in the preview. If you then render to DV Widescreen to should not see any black bars on the output. Keeping project, media, and render as widescreen will eliminate any black bars.

I think I figured it out. When I click the properties, media tab, the pixel aspect ratio was set to NTSC DV instead of 1.2121 NTSC DV Widescreen. I don’t know why it did that, but changing it, fixed it.

    Thanks.

Yea, that’s what I mean about keeping everything widescreen. I guess the media didn’t have the proper flags in it for Vegas to figure it out. Glad you found the cause.
