As a follow-up to my previous post where I discovered that a specific plug-in was causing havoc editing in Vegas Pro 19, I have made another important observation. I’m learning new things every day about Vegas Pro! So having resolved the issue, when I went to render a different project, the same sort of weird artifacts were appearing and the render was useless! LONG STORY SHORT: I noticed in the “Project Media” bin that there were about a dozen or so New Blue Titler Pro instances, yet only three of them were being used on my timeline!! BOTTOM LINE: if in my editing processes I regularly purge unused clips from the “Project Media” bin so that it only contains clips and effects that currently are on the timeline, the issues that I have experienced also go away. I believe that this should be stressed more in the Vegas Pro User Manual, as this appears to possibly be one of the issues causing freezes/crashes that many users experience on a regular basis. So the next time Vegas Pro acts up, my suggestions are that you systematically and temporarily remove the plugins being used on clips in the timeline one-by-one and clean up the “Project Media” bin as a start to your troubleshooting procedures. I trust that by doing this a number of users will be able to resolve some of the major issues they are experiencing with Vegas Pro.

I honestly reset my Project Media folder in Sony Vegas Pro for every new projects that I create. I would suggest using Project Media for one video you make and then create new project for the next video. I do not get these issues as far as I know when doing that and I have been doing this for over a decade now learning Sony Vegas. Feel free to ask me any Sony Vegas related questions if needed! 🙂
