Another stupid Illustrator question.
Logo was created in Illustrator.
It was created using line thickness instead of creating the “lines” as outlines-based shapes.
At this point, there is also some white solids apparently used as “masks” to create some of the non-standard letter forms from outline shapes…the result looks good…until you select all the objects and realize that the circular parts of the letter forms are simply solid circles with nested white circles to mask the center, etc.
So now I need an outline version…am I doomed to have to trace the entire thing, or is there a way I can use the “pathfinder” function…or something else?
I’m tempted to load it into Photoshop at a huge image size and do a color-based select and export it as an illustrator path and start it that way…it probably isn’t the most effective way, but it’s a way that I understand at least…

Pathfinder should do what you need, though it’s hard to tell without seeing the logo. Probably Minus Front.
If you need your lines to be outlined shapes instead of stroked paths, select the path, then go to the Object menu and select Path and Outline Stroke.
