Another SAN advice needed
Hi Guys,
We are a small post boutique who are planning to have a SAN based storage.
We are an FCP house and along this upgrade we are going to have 2 Smoke
machines (Mac) and a Resolve. We have two options, A solution from
facilis (24D) and a solution based on the ATTO FastStream 8500.Facilis Terrablock is configured as

7 x VFX (MAYA, AE, NUKE)As you can notice, the facilis solution would cater all clients while
there will be a separate storage for vfx clients in the ATTO based
configuration. Both solutions make use of cheaper sata drives. Facilis
have several clients and installations worldwide, on the other hand since
the atto solution have different components from different vendors, we
have yet to hear a similar installation for a similar facility like ours.
In addition the Facilis supplier in the region is a long trusted
integrator for us. We want to be objective in our decision and consider
the ATTO solution as well.1. Given the options above, which configuration is better, in terms of
available bandwidth, stability, flexibility, data security and
compatibility with our machines?2. What are the advantages and disadvantages for both storage systems?
3. What component in both SAN will be the bottleneck to look out for?
4. How do we increase bandwidth and our upgrade path in the future?
