  • Another problem exporting to dvd- this is our last resort…

We are having problems similar to many of those posted elsewhere but a previous post that best described the problem read as follows:
” When I try to put it on to a DVD, Premiere says that it’s transcoding forever. The bar goes up to a certain point, and fairly quickly, at that, but once it gets to that certain point, it stops. I’ve left it going for probably two hours, too, but to no avail… I have installed the Encoder update and the hotfix for WinXP. I rebooted after the installs. But when I opened up PPro 1.0 again, the MPG encorder for DVD are gone. Only the WindowsMedia and RealPlayer are left. Any ideas on how to get this back? This is under File->Export->encoder… ”

We have videos that are 61 minutes at the largest and all we hope to accomplish is to burn them to dvds (with the highest resolution that we can maintain since they are research videos). We are having the same problems as the above post- PPro 7.0 seemed to be having a hang-up while transcoding the file (which you could only exit by a force quit) so we downloaded both updates and things only got worse. After the downloads the program could not detect any mpeg2-dvd encoder/writer and wouldn’t even pretend to start transcoding. Furthermore, when you would try to click on the summary option the whole program would just close down- no error message in sight.

Since then we have uninstalled and re-installed Premiere Pro 7.0 twice, scanned our machine for virus/etc., as well as turned off any other programs that could have been interfering with the burner(as per another post- norton antivirus/some other dvd burn program). Luckily we are back at square-one (which was certainly better than what we had after the downloads) but we are determined that there is some simple solution that we are missing. We are still desperately trying any options that have worked for other people in this and other posted forums- if anyone has any suggestions as what step to take next- please, please help!

I have the same problem. I uninstalled ALL my cd and DVD burning software…reinstalled premiere pro etc. The only thing I could do was to export it as an avi file and burn using DVD architect…I know this isnt much help but it is a solution short term….
