Last Friday I was working on a project that contains a :13 mp4 file sent to me from India, I think shot on an iPhone. This morning I turn on the computer and Vegas won’t play the file. It freezes up, then goes to that white screen overlay-looking thing, and crashes. The clip plays perfectly fine in QT player and in Premier Pro. I tried renaming the clip as a MOV file and Vegas played it fine the first time. I then try playing it in the actual project and it crashed again. I have several other short MOV clips in this project that work fine as well. Any suggestions on what’s happening or how to fix it?

    thx

I think it’s because you need more RAM.

    just kidding……

Does the project load fine? Is the problem happening when only playing from the timeine?

Yes, it loads and plays until it hits that particular file. For now the workaround is to convert the file in Media Encoder so that Vegas will stop crashing. Would be nice to know why this started happening all the sudden though.
