another grading for stock question
sorry if this question has been ask a thousand times before, i read many threads, but nothing really helped me.
i am supplying footage to a stock footage company.
i have graded all my footage in fcp with a grade one monitor, and i’m now wanting to export it to send to the stock company. however, the gamma/picture changes on export.
what is the normal practice for this? the stock will be seen and purchased on the internet, so it has to look good there, but also has to look similar when the purchaser loads the clips into their nle. (the quicktime clips look very different to the fcp direct output)

IMHO it’s a bad idea to grade stock footage. Most everyone I know avoids footage that looks like it has been previously graded, since I will have to do my own grading to match my existing footage, so now we have ‘a grade on a grade’, which does nothing but reduce the quality.
There is really no reason to color correct your footage, unless it is really poorly shot, and if it is that bad, a reshoot would be in order. Most purchasers are pretty savvy. They are looking at the content, length and framing, knowing that they are going to do their own grade, and just need the footage to be in the ballpark.Scott Sheriff

Where are you seeing a different gamma, in QT Player?
Open the QT Preferences and check “Enable Final Cut compatibility”.
See if its looks OK.
