another Export by reference taking too long
I see a post below it the same issue. maybe somebody can shed some light. I have an EX1 sequence that I’m trying to export by reference. It’s 2 minutes long. Yet it’s taking 19 minutes to export by reference!!
Why would this be happening? -

It’s called “Conforming,” and it’s a fact of life when dealing with Long-GOP video such as XDCAM and HDV.

Everything is rendered to pro res 422. I can understand this time when exporting a self contained Quicktime, but why would a reference file take this long?

This is not rendering, it is conforming.

So am I better off just exporting a self contained movie?

You’ll have the same issue. There’s no escaping it.

Interesting. I thought conforming applied to xdcam in an xdcam timeline, or hdv in an hdv timeline. If you’re in a ProRes timeline, and you’ve rendered it. Shouldn’t a reference export simply reference the prores render files?

He said it was an EX1 sequence. I believe he is only rendering to ProRes.
