I’ve searched here for an answer, but found none that work. I have original footage that is “custom 720×368, 23.976 fps”. The only render format that I can find that allows me to have the render “allow source to adjust frame size” is the lower-quality Main Concept AVC/AAC. All other formats gray out the frame size and do not include the “allow source to adjust frame size.”

Question: is there a high quality render format I can use which will preserve the 720×368 size?

I left out: all I want to render is one minute of a scene from Jarhead to illustrate a lighting point for my students. So really good quality would be good.

    Haven’t seen you in a while…..
Do you have the Project Properties already set to
720×368, 23.976 fps and then try rendering using the AVI format?

Hi, Steve, yes been a while. And yes, the properties are set to those dimensions. And yes, I’m trying AVI — but can use any format provided it will run on a Mac at school. (Via flash stick.) I am trying to preserve as much of the original quality as possible. Since it’s only a minute clip, size is not much of an issue.

AVI is the native windows format. You want MP4 or MOV for a Mac.

I’m not sure what you mean by “lower-quality”. You can render any quality your want with MainConcept AVC and it will let you use a custom frame size. Start with the Apple iPod 640×480 Video template and increase the bit rate to 25Mbps if you’d like. That should be plenty of quality. 😉

John, essentially, yes. I’m trying some other high settings as well. Looks good. Thanks guys! (Just back so first time I’ve had a chance to try this out.)
