Hoping someone can help, did a search first and FAQ, but found nothing regarding this.

I’m saving a 60 seconds comp. with keyframed effects, which I want to loop… BUT, I only want the final rendered avi to start at beginning play through completely and then go back to a middle frame number and continuously loop from that middle frame to end.

The final avi would be like an intro (beginning), some effects (middle frames) and then loop from the end back to middle frames/effects, continuously.

    Can someone help with this….

Because I already have numerous comps in AE7 and would just like to use this one app. to do this loop. I dont think it is complicated at all, just can’t figure it out as I am not a AE guru, not even close.

Doing this with your editor would be an easy way, like Dave said. Otherwise I would add an intermediate step and render out the first part and the looping part separately, then import them into a new comp, add them both to the timeline and set the looping clip to loop a whole bunch of times in the interpret footage dialogue (right click on the video -> Interpret Footage -> Main)

…which is pretty much the same thing you would do in an editor, just in AE..

You should be able to do this by pre-comping, enabling time remapping, creating a keyframe where you want the looping to begin, and adding this time remapping expression:

    loopOut(“cycle”,1)

You could just split the layer at the first looping keyframe ( Edit>Split Layer), note: the earlier keyframes are there under the upper split clip, so select and Delete those earlier keyframes from that upper split layer.

Now in that upper layer, to those animated properties, add the loop expression:

    loopOut(“cycle”, 0)

“Ctrl K” bring up the Comp Dialogue Box, change the time to however long you want it to loop, then drag the upper layer’s “end thing” to the right to lengthen the layer for as long as you want it to loop.

[Dave LaRonde] “Remember when you were a noob and you actually listened to the guys giving you advice?”

The original question that I asked was answered with 2 different methods, and that is what I asked for and am thankful for.
Ofcourse, there are many things that can be ‘easier’ or more ‘convenient’, but there was a reason that I asked for a method to do this in AE. Did you ever think that not everyone has an NLE? Or maybe those two methods mentioned above may be saving someone time when it ‘all’ can in fact be done right in AE in just a few seconds, render and be done with it, especially when just trying to export a SWF?
But don’t misunderstand me, I appreciate to you telling me how to do it ‘easier’, but was purposely looking for a method using AE.
