  Animation presets not being applied (to text)

  Hello! I am very new to After Effects and am trying to apply an animation preset to some text. The text is its own composition, placed inside another one. When I drag the animation preset to the text layer nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. What can I be doing wrong?
