  • Animation footage in same Sequence as DVCPRO 50 footage

    Hi,

We are having some troubles mixing Animation footage from After Effects with DVCPRO50 footage in a sequence that has quite a bit of time remapping on the DVCPRO50.

The Animation footage has gradients that show bands when the sequence is set to DV/DVCPRO50. The animation footage looks great when the sequence is set to Animation. But the DVCPRO50 footage with the time remapping is shifted in X and Y and shows flickering ghosts of multiple frames. We suspect the time remapping.

Is there a sequence setting that will allow the animation to look good without having the time remapping mess up the DVCPRO50 stuff?

    Thanks much,

    Warren

In an 8 bit sequence you will more than likely get banding in gradients. First of all, if you have the opportunity, go back to AE and set you render settings to match the compression of your FCP sequence, in this case DVCPRO50, it will save you on rendering in Final Cut. Also, in AE add color Noise at 4% to your compositions. If non of these are options at 9:30 on a Sunday evening, add the noise to your AE renders in your FCP timeline.
