    Hi All,

My 3d animator just flaked on me and the job is due now. As such, I need to step in and create an animation that is just above my ability level in AE. If you can point me in the right direction, I can make it happen.

If you know of a plug-in that I can buy to simplify the process, or if you can give me basic directions for the quickest way to accomplish this task, I would be very appreciative.

To see a sample… go to this webpage that I have set up…
    https://web.mac.com/mabou2/anim/sample.html

    Here is what I need…

We have a female host that we videotaped in front of a green screen. I need to create a “3d” set for her to stand in.

The set is where I need the help.

–Structurally, if you looked from the top down, you would see the host standing on a shiny floor, surrounded by a large (room-sized) cylinder of images.

–From the camera perspective, The host should appear to be standing in a large cylinder-shaped room. You would see the woman standing, the floor reflecting her, and you would see three large panels of video behind her, the panels would occasionally spin (move horizontally) to reveal three new screens of video.

–Only the floor and the back wall are visible. The floor is shiny, reflecting the host and the images on the back wall.

–The back wall includes two “layers”, each with three video screens. The main layer of video screens are near the full height of the host, this is where all the action occurs. These panels will change content to support the topics that the host is discussing.
    —————————-

    That is about it.

    Thanks again,
    Much appreciated.

It looks like a job for the CC Cylinder effect. Basically, you sort out how your screens will appear inside a large comp that is 2x wide and 1x tall. Try a test with 1000×500 before you commit to a comp size. Making stuff happen inside this comp is most of the work.

Then you drop this comp into the main comp and apply CC Cylinder. Set it up to just show the inside of the cylinder. Move it around until you like it.

To get the reflections, you have to copy the cylinder layer and flop it upside-down, add a bit of blur and reduce the opacity. Check the COW for “raytrace” or “reflections” for more.

If you want different layers of videoscreens showing, you can make that all happen within the 1000×500 comp.
