Hello out there. I am video producer for Wal-Mart and I’ve been
working on learning C4d for about a year. I have the 9.1 version.
My question: Ok, what would be the best way to animated the mouth
and eyes of the Wal-Mart smiley. Or what would be the best way to build the smile and eyes for animating. right now i’ve built the smile with a spine extruded with a circle. but I don’t want it to
have any extrusion at all. When I watch the commercials the smile
looks flat on the yellow oval. Anyone got any good ideas?

Take a look at the tutorial about the spline based shader at c4dcafe.

You may have to register by inputting your email, tons of useful info here.
you can pose splines, and if you have mocca, you can use the pose mixer to do complex
    lip animations..

it always looked to me they are using just an animated map for the expressions – do out the whole script in 2D then map onto the “body” and animate his body expressions/moves to match
