I’m working on a 24p mini-dv music video that needs an effect. I need to animate a set of speakers to pulse and vibrate in sync with the music, this will then be composited to a performance against a green screen. Where do I begin?

Import the audio and “animation > Keyframe Assistant > Convert Audio to Keyframes”.

You get a new layer with sliders that hold values corresponding to the amplitude of the audio.

ou can use a simple pixkwhip expression to use this value in the scale of a layer or a bulge-effect etc.
