Animating shape on top of displacement map
Hey there. I want to animate the silhouette of a dingo moving across live action footage of a rocky landscape (locked off shot). I want the silhouette to distort like a shadow as it moves, responsive to luminance levels of the rocks. Tried using the footage as displacement map but silhouette distortion is only responding to the first frame. Grateful for any advice.

-duplicate the footage and call it Luminance Map.
-on the Luminance Map, add Black & White and Levels.
-increase the contrast so the rocks have clear light and dark areas.
-add Gaussian Blur around 5 to 15 px.
-create your dingo silhouette on a separate layer.
-apply Effect > Distort > Displacement Map to the dingo.
-set Displacement Map Layer to Luminance Map.
-set Horizontal Displacement and Vertical Displacement to Luminance.
-start with Max Horizontal Displacement at 5 to 10.
-start with Max Vertical Displacement at 5 to 10.
-make sure Time Displacement is OFF.
-if it only uses the first frame, precompose the Luminance Map with the entire footage inside the precomp.
-use that precomp as the Displacement Map Layer.if it still doesn’t work, send me the footage and i’ll record a tutorial on how to do it for oyu.
