animating multi-layer text like handwriting
Ok… I am very new to after effects. I have taught myself how to animate words so that they appear to be written in (like script or a signature) BUT… I HAVE A MORE SPECIFIC PROBLEM:
I made words out of wire wrapped in yarn, photographed them, green screened the background away in photoshop and split each letter into layers so that the rope letters overlap appropriately.
I need the letters to “write” themselves in my composition (I used a stroke set to reveal original image… keyframe start: 0; end: 0 then transition to a keyframe start: 0; end: 100. This will effectively “write” letters, but it makes it so that the under layer of my yarn shows up along with the top layer… i.e. exposing parts of the scripted yarn text ahead of time that shouldn’t be shown yet.
Is there a way to make sure that a stroke mask ONLY affects ITS layer, and not unfortunate layers that just happen to cross its path? I’ll keep searching the tutorials for answers.
HELP!
