I’m trying to animate moving pool balls on a pool table rolling to the pockets after a break. Any suggestions? (I’ve tried rendering the spheres in a 3d program, but the files are not compatible with After Effects) Could I render an image in Illustrator and apply lighting effects?

If you have a 3D program, all you need to do is render the frames to an image sequence (e.g.: .tif sequence) and then import that image sequence in After Effects the same way you would import video. You are better off animating the balls in your 3D program rather than trying to do something in After Effects. It will be much faster and easier.

    Thanks,
