    Hey guys-

I’m currently making a DVD of my project using Encore 1.5. I’m trying to animate the buttons (just plain linked text, no thumbnails or anything) and I export the menu straight out of Encore as a .psd. I Import it into After Effects, animate it, and then re-export it. The only problem is, I don’t know how to export it so I can preserve the buttons. Naturally, when I re-import it into Encore, it’s just a .mov file. How can I preserve the buttons of the menu while maintaining the animations?

You need to export both a PSD and a movie file (I’d recommend AVI instead of QT) out of AE. Or combine the movie file with your original menu or the PSD you created from it.

Then create the menu from the PSD, set the movie file as the motion background, and turn off any layers in the PSD that aren’t needed (including the non-highlight parts of the buttons).
