Animating logos, a job for AE?
I have very little experience with AE and I have only useed it for masking.
Is Ae the program to make cool effects on logos? (like breaking through black background to revel logo etc)
Or should I try finding a 3d program for things like that?
I work on a Mac G5 with AE 6.5 if AE is not the weapon of choice? I am open for sugestions on programs but not to expencive. -

It depends. If you want the logo to look “3D” with depth, you can buy Zaxwerks Invigorator. If you need the whole thing to have depth, you might need a “real” 3D application. If you don’t need depth in the objects, you can use AE.
If you like the Xbox ripping thing, you’d need a 3D app for that because that background has thickness and it rips in three dimensions.
