    Hey there

    Newbie q:

I have an Illustrator file with a pattern of clouds and I would like to animate these clouds separately in 3D space in AE; do I need to first create separate image files in Illustrator (e.g. background, middle ground, foreground) to then bring into AE to animate? or is there a way to keyframe/mask in AE? What is the best workflow for this?

    Thanks!

Thanks, Dave! I ended up slicing the clouds in Illustrator and it created a bunch of separate clouds for me that I was able to import into AE with the transparency. Now I have to animate each one separately which I feel may end up being a blessing and a curse.

You could also crate basic clouds on a solid layer in AE with the pen tool. You might also be able to use expressions to animate your clouds.
