Animating handgun blowback
Hey fellas, I’m nearly positive that I saw a tutorial some time ago about how to animate the slide on an airsoft gun or what not going back for a single frame in After Effects, but I can’t seem to find it. It should just be as simple as cutting the top out and moving it back for a single frame, adding motion blur, etc… But I’m not really sure how to do that. Can anyone help me out, or point me in the right direction?

If I were to sit down and make the blow back effect right now, I would save the frame I want the blow back on as a psd from afx. Then I would silhouette the gun with one layer being the top part thats back, and another layer with the barrel showing. Import it back into afx, probably as comp-doc size to make lining up simple, and maybe add a little blur to the blow back.
