  • Animating depth scale from face of an object, not the centre

    Hi there,

This is probably bleedingly obvious, sorry if I’m just daft.

Basicaly I want to animate a bar graph, with three vertical bars growing from “nothing” to their value out of a common decorative base object (box)

I can set it up and get the 3 bars to grow by animating the Set Depth’s, but they scale from the centre of the bars, so instead of just growing upwards, they expand downwards through the bottom of the decorative base box as well.

Just curious if there’s a way to set the anchor/centre scale point so they can scale from one of the edges, ie the bottom, as to only go up.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I appreciate any ideas. Again sorry if i’m just missing something simple.

    Hey,

No, it’s not so obvious. What you are asking for would be a great feature.

Untill then what you could do would be to use a transparency map to eliminate the part of your bar that doesn’t need to show up.

Here is a quicly done project for you:

    Hello Serge,

You are a god, as per usual. Thank you very much.

When I tried to open your example it says you’ve got a more recent version of AE. I was just wondering what version you’re using, as I tried to open it in both 7.0.0.244 and the CS3 beta. There appears to be no objects in the Invig effects.

Sorry Serge. Thanks again for all your help.

    Sincerely,
    Jase

    Hey,

    Maybe the project got corrupted.

I used AE 7.0.1 and Invigorator Pro 4.0.8.
Here is a new project with AE 6.5: https://www.nyc-visual.com/Graphic_Bar.sit

let me know how it works.

    Salut.
    Serge
