Animating Cartoon/Vintage Clouds and Such…
Posted by Mark Bishop on December 30, 2008 at 3:09 pmI can’t seem to find any place to help and can’t figure it out myself…
If you watch vintage cartoons such as Charlie Brown, or even the opening credits to Juno… how the clouds ‘move’ and trees ‘move’, how is that done? Can anyone help?

December 31, 2008 at 7:33 pmBack in the 60s, probably done “on twos” at 12 frames/second.
[Dave LaRonde] “Um, cel animation at 18 frames a second for the Charlie Brown specials?”
Mark, your local library will have several books on film animation history and techniques. One of my favorites in from Disney, “The Illusion of Life.” More about the artists than techniques, though.

December 31, 2008 at 7:55 pmAre you trying to do this After Effects?
Open the manual and do the tutorials that come with the application, should take you a few weeks to get up and running if you’re patient.

March 24, 2009 at 9:35 pmHi, did you find the solution for your animation?
Most probably what you wanted was done totally by hand drawing. Disney still does lots of that.
What kind of animation are you into?
We are doing lots of flash character and scene animations. It is different nut it works for us.
