Hi, i am playing around with 3D and camera and will create an animation where camera travels from one position to another. So i created a PAL Comp (720×576) and a solid, which is 3 times bigger in each dimension (for the background). I put some objects onto upper left corner of this solid and some onto its lower right corner (in Z-axis are objects nearlier to the camera). Now i am animating the camera (fly from one corner to another), nothing difficult in this case…

But… Is this the only way? It works, but i cant see whole solid, because it is hidden in pasteboard area and visible is only comp-size window. For more complex animations i need to see whole “scene”, not only what camera “see”.

Is there some way to make compositions bigger and make camera just “shoot” resolution of 720×576? Or, how do you make animations like this? Thank you and i am sorry about my English.

Hi there, where are you from? I’m from Brazil…

Why don’t you try to work on a bigger screen comp size, and when the projects is ready, you reduce the size of the comp before the render?

Press Ctrl+K to change it, anytime you need.

    I hope it helps.

    Yeah, that’s a problem.

I don’t know how to solve it.
    Sorry, maybe somebody else can.

    A big hug from Brazil

Thank you, Franktatu! Maybe it is not problem, i think, it is feature of After Effects, but i am newbie in animating camera, so i need to get some practice in this. Dont you (or anyone else) know, where (or if) it is possible to find some tutorials or better AEP projects aimed on animating in 3D space? I read something on Creative Cow, DV.com and VideoCoPilot.net but it is not exactly what i need.

I really like animations like this:

And would be very happy, if someone tell me, what sizes of composition do designers use and how are their working? Precompose in bigger Composition and camera animate in final-output-size Composition?

    Thanks for all advice.
