    What I want to do is to create a dotted line like that, where I have control over the distance between the dots, and their position along the path.

    I need the effect to show how an object changes it’s velocity along the Z-axis due to gravity.

    Edit: I thought of a way to do it, but it involves creating 150 animated shapes… Any help with automating the process would still be greatly appreciated.

    Hi. You could use text “full stops”/”periods” (.) along a path, then use the “tracking for selected characters” – the AV setting in the text’s character panel – to change the spacing between them.

    A particle system emitting one particle per frame should do it.
