  • Animated track matte through individual characters – text margin is keyframed

    Question is actually two-fold:

I have a ten-letter word, and I’d like each character to show though a different piece of video. The text is animated using a text preset that has been tweaked – the only thing keyframed is “first margin,” as the text moves along a simple path while the comp camera is also simultaneously animated. Pretty simple.

But – how can I get the video that is to show through each character to “stay” with the text that is moving around in 3D space? Parenting it does’t appear to work, as the text itself is not moving, the only thing keyframed again, is first margin.

Also – now that I’ve done the work to make this animation that I like, easy way to “break apart” the word into individual characters, all keeping their relative position, so that I can use a separate matted piece of video for each character?

    Thanks!
