Hi, I’m new to After Effects and I was wondering about how i could have text draw itself out in cursive, then scribble itself out. Thanks.

Go over to the After Effects Forum and click on Aharon’s head and scroll down to, Animate a Signature, or here’s a link:

You can also make the masks for the cursive with Window>Motion Sketch, then copy those position keyframes and paste them into the Mask Shape (set a mask shape keyframe first) in a new Solid Layer.

After Ahron’s method, you can then erase the cursive by animating the Stroke Start from 0 to 100, or you can use the Scribble to leave some remnants of the cursive behind. Scribble only works easily if you background color is a solid color.

Render>Scribble. Immediately change Composite (bottom stopwatch) to On Original and change End to 0%, now you have your Cursive back.

Change the Fill Type to Inside
Color to whatever you background color is.
    Wiggle Type: Static
Animate the End from 0 to 100.
Adjusting the Stroke width will leaves different amounts of the cursive behind.
