    Hi,

I’m looking to make an animated semi-transparent strap for laying over footage. I would like stars with comet-like trails to come in from the middle top left of the screen, and move around fairly randomly, and pass across the bottom third from left to right (again randomly) and go off screen, leaving behind them a semi-transparent strap, where the caption will appear.

I there any type of preset for this type of thing? I’ve had a play around with motion paths, and this looks promising movement-wise. But I’ve tried some coding i found in another thread for doing trail, but it doesn’t really make it very nice!

    Thanks in advance,
    Victoria

I created a strap like this recently where particles fly in from left to right of frame revealing a strap. I created the strap in Illustrator first, imported it into AE and used circular masks to reveal the strap from left to right. By using individual masks, rather than one single mask, the strap looked more as if it was “made of particles”. Then by placing the particle animation (in this case using Particular) above strap layer the whole thing looked nicely integrated. Let me know if you need more details.

That sounds like a good idea. I’ll have a go, and then if I run into problems I’ll give you a shout.
    Thank you very much!
