I’m playing around with some animated ink splatter effects and was wondering if anyone knew of any good tutorials to accomplish this? I playing around with textures I made in photoshop and animated the mattes but I was wondering if there are any “particle” effects that can create a more fluid animation?

Hey man – yeah i havent seen any but I’ve been experimenting with this same this for teh past couple of days. Masking works OK – the more detailed the mask the better the result, but the more detailed the mask the more uneven it seems to end up. Good masking is real talent I’m finding.

Set you Mask Shape key frames farther apart and compress inwards – the interprolation is smoother vs trying to adjust to longer durations.
Also Ease the appropriate key frames for drips etc.

Are you getting drips from Pshop Brushes?

i’m almost positive that the animated splatters and drips you see on tv are mattes and animations created from stock or original footage of actual paint being shot as it splats and drips.

    just my 2cents.

thanks for the tip. I’m playing around with the masks but think I’m gonna go the 3dmax route with Glu3d….but yes the mattes I was playing with came from complex brush types in photoshop.

    thanks again.
