Animate texture
I have a texture with an AVI I cant seem to get to the menu where I can control the start and end frame so my movie actually plays, the manual says to access further settings by clicking the texture preview or texture box and shows a picture of the material editor with 3 tabs Basic, Shadier, Animation could some one tell me how to get to these 3 tabs please I have windows XP and C4D 9

Go to the Attribute Manager tab that has the texture loaded in it, e.g., color, bump, etc. Then click on the button that has the texture name on it:
Texture |>| |[c:mytexture.avi]| |…|
So you would click on the |[c:mytexture.avi]| button.
