  • Animate Anchor Point of Array Object? (clip included)

Posted by Jason Connolly on December 2, 2005 at 1:32 pm

    Hello the COW!

OK, I think is simple, but I can figure out how to do it. I have an array object of cubes (see clip here) that animate outward from the center point. How do I animate(or key frame) the anchor of the array object so the cubes animate out AND rotate on an axis at the same time? I want it to look like the cubes are the petals of a flower opening up. I can’t see anywhere that I can add a keyframe to the anchor point of the arrray. I should also add that I did ‘make editabe,’ so I can control rotation, but how do I animate the anchor point over time?

    Any feedback welcome!

    Thanks!
    Jason

By adding a null object between the array and the cube, the null object allows me control over the rotation of the array.

Thanks Jason! One detail that’s important is the “Arrayed” object must be a child of the null with-in the Array, and you don’t need to touch the Null at all.

I’m only half the thing I say I am, the other half are me.
