animate a shape line over a path
Hello! This is the first time I ask help about an AE thing.
I would like to animate a shape line as in this video https://vimeo.com/18796321 (line growing at the begining)I say a shape line because I guess it’s not a simple stroke but a line with a round cup on a side and a pointed end.
The question is how to animate all the shape line in a smooth way (along a path?) from its born to its end?
I think it is not possible to bend a shape around a path and it’s not possible to create a stroke with a pointed end to animate along a path with the trim path animation.
I also tried the stroke effect and vegas effect (that as a few control parameter to edit in a different way the line).
I also tried to animate a brush stroke and doesn’t work.
I know that there is 3d stroke but since this is a plug in I think there is no way to modify the shape of the line and other parameteres.Do you have any suggestion? How do you think those lines in the video have been done?

It appears that example you link to uses Trapcode 3D Stroke, which allows a tapered line.
You may be able to achieve what you want using the Write-On effect.
One of the options in Write-On is to vary the Brush Size using the Brush Time Properties.
