I got a DVD recorded with a desktop DVD recorder.
    (Some LG product)

My desktop player (a philips) can play the whole disk,
but my PC can’t read all the VOB files.
I can copy 2 of the 4 vobs.

It seems to be some sort of file system problem,
since the whole disk is physically readable.
I can make a physical copy, which behaves the same.

Smartripper claims there are “locked” files….

    Anyone seen this/similar problem, maybe?

How I could get all the material to edit?
(Playing it and capturing could be just the
    very last solution)

    Thanks in advance.

That’s the way I’d do it.

    Thanks Ed,
May be this is the only way?

I surely loose some quality doing so.

But I1m extremely courious what can cause such a problem…

You’ve lost quality no matter WHAT you do!

Have you tried a DVD ripper? Gordian Knot may work. Since you go all digital from the get-go, you should see less quality loss.

    Terje,

Depends on how you define quality. I’ve found that an analog pass in the digital chain to have a nice smoothing effect on the video in spite of a bit of bandwidth loss. And I’ve had enough clients compliment the look to never fear an analog pass if that’s the easier method of dealing with something. Try it, you might like it.
