    Hello again!

I have a question regarding anamorphic video. When I export a video from Final Cut Pro based off of HDV and the default settings, it is created as an anamorphic video.

From what I know (and please correct me if I’m wrong), this means that the pixel aspect ratio will show up correctly on a widescreen display (like on my widescreen TV if I made a DVD from this video).

However, when I look at the video on the computer it looks as if it’s 4:3 and squished horizontally.

What do I have to do in order to make a video that is appropriately widescreen on the computer? Also, is my understanding of anamorphic video correct or am I way off?

    Thanks!

    Jason,

Is the purpose of your export to display properly on a computer for client/personal viewing, and are you going to a format other than HDV? If so

    That makes sense, thanks!

I think I was looking at it bass-ackwards. I was assuming that I was stuck with the 1.2-wide pixels because it came from HDV. I was calculating sizes correctly… but with the 1.2 pixel assumption, they were always coming out 4:3. Go fig!

    Thanks again!
    Jason
