I was using a digital8 camcorder to convert 8mm tape, Digital8, and VHS tapes to my CPU. I do not have the camcorder anymore, but I just bought a panasonic DVC30. Is there a cheap alternative to getting these types of tapes to my computer. I do not want to buy another digital 8 camcorder, unless it is the cheapest route to go. Thanks!

I am looking for something under $200 if possible.

If you need to do a LOT of Hi8 and 8 analog transfers, shop eBay and buy another D8.

If you only need to do a few, just borrow or buy any Hi8 camcorder and connect to you new camcorder.

According to the specs, the DVC30 will convert analog audio and video (S-video or RCA) to digital and then send it out to FireWire.
Or better still, first record the analog tapes to miniDV tapes so you will have Timecode when you capture the DV copy.

How can I record the analog tapes to my miniDV camcorder? The problem is that I have no where to insert the hi8, 8mm, tapes to make them digital.

Please re-read the first and second sentences of my post.
