    Hi all,

I’m looking for a way to create the effect of optical sound on film.
While after effects has its built-in plug-in to visualize a sound layer, the effect is far from what I’m looking for…
Does anyone know of a way to do this…?

    thanks

    Brecht.

Search effects for “Audio Waveform.” It creates a visual waveform based on a layer’s audio track. It doesn’t look exactly like an optical sound track, but if you tweak the parameters right it might give you what you need.

    Hi Dave, Ken,

Yes Dave, that’s exatctly what I’m looking for!
Hey Ken, yes, I know the standard visualization plug-in in After Effects but I can’t seem to get it quite the way I want it and how I know analog optical sound looks…

    Hi Dave.

I was messing around with the waveform plug-in, which did not give me the desired result.
The audio spectrum effect does get the job done though. I should’ve tried that one before posting.

    Thanks!
